Applications for the 2018 Arrupe Program must be received by 30 September 2017 (for International Students) and 31 October 2017 (for Domestic students).
The Arrupe® Program(1) is the Australian Jesuit Province’s national program for the formation of Givers of the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises and Spiritual Directors in the Ignatian tradition. Jesuit College of Spirituality is the sole provider of this program on behalf of the Society of Jesus (Australia-New Zealand).
The Arrupe® Program is studied within the Master of Arts (Spiritual Direction) through the University of Divinity.
The Dynamics of Arrupe® Formation(2)
The first dynamic is personal spiritual formation in a supportive faith-learning community. At JCS we strive to create a faith-learning community centred on Eucharist, prayer and faith-sharing in which students feel safe and supported in their spiritual formation.
The second dynamic is supervised practice of abilities, skills and capabilities as a spiritual director. Spiritual direction is an art that needs to be learnt under careful supervision. This is done in supervised groups, in role-plays and in supervised giving of the Spiritual Exercises.
The third dynamic is knowledge and understanding. The spiritual director in the Ignatian tradition must know the language and the schemas of the Spiritual Exercises and have read about, appropriated and written on their structure, dynamic and process.
